Amazon calculates a product’s star ratings using a machine learned model instead of a raw data average. No one even bothered to review it before publishing. There are many grammatical errors (subjects change from singular to plural in mid-sentence, for example), and there are extra words thrown in as if someone changed how they worded the sentence, but didn't type it right. An editor would catch these simple errors, but they make some of this stuff hard to read. The book refers to figures and tables that are not even in the book. This made at least two of the tables an unreadable mess. (Not through the book yet.) Sentences are broken in odd places, sometimes a whole line only has one word in it. The web site on the front cover is blocked. (If I wrote this mess, I'd block access to my web site too.) The book states in the prologue that it is only designed to be used as reference during a training course. Something not mentioned on the product page. (Half the instructors time would be spent correcting text and printing out tables and figures to replace the missing ones.) Still, it is the only HAZWOPER book I found, so I gave it 2 stars. We'll see how it goes through the rest of the book.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again. Two programs— CERCLA, the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) of 1976—were implemented to deal with these wastes. CERCLA (the Superfund) was designed to deal with existing waste sites, and RCRA addressed newly generated waste. The acronym HAZWOPER originally derived from the Department of Defense 's Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOP), implemented on military bases slated for the disposal of hazardous waste left on-site after World War II.Each level requires a training program, with OSHA-specified topics and minimum training time. This would include training in the methods used to minimize the risk from safety and health hazards; in the safe use of control equipment; in the selection and use of appropriate personal protective equipment; in the safe operating procedures to be used at the incident scene; in the techniques of coordination with other employees to minimize risks; in the appropriate response to over exposure from health hazards or injury to themselves and other employees; and in the recognition of subsequent symptoms which may result from over exposures.

An employer must ensure that the training provider covers the areas of knowledge required by the standard and provides certification to students that they have passed the training. Since the certification is for the student, not the employer, the trainer must cover all aspects of HAZWOPER operations and not only those at the current site.September 8, 1983.
